Roulette is an American casino game that’s a normal fixture in many land-based and even online casinos. It’s a fun table game that gives many players the needed variation when gambling. In the midst of countless card games and slot games with almost a thousand kinds and types, roulette is the basic but equally rewarding game casino players eventually come back to when they want to get big payouts. The Roulette Wheel is a relatively easy game to play, so read on to learn roulette’s rules and strategies to win when playing in top online casinos in Malaysia.
Basic Rules of Roulette
The Roulette Wheel may seem intimidating at first, but you’ll eventually get the hang of it once you start playing. The traditional Roulette, being a table game in the form of a spinning wheel and a ball depends heavily on odds, physics, and statistics. In the case of online casinos, the spin of the wheel depends on RNGs. We’ll discuss that in more depth later.
In essence, roulette’s main machinery is the wheel (that’s where its name even comes from, roulette meaning little wheel). Players will choose to place bets on either a single number, various grouping of numbers, the color red or black, whether the ball will fall on an odd or even number, and if the numbers are high (19-36) or low (1-18). Players will place their wagers in chips on the Roulette table. The wheel spins, and the ball lands on a numbered pocket of either red or black color. If the players bet on that specific pocket the ball falls into, then he wins!
Although the courier sets the ball spinning in traditional online-based casinos, for online casinos, the game plays more like a slot game. If you try to learn the science behind online slot games, both slot games and roulette use Random Number Generators (RNGs) to generate the spins, symbol combinations, or, in the case of roulette, the winning number, and color.
RNGs are complex fool-proof algorithms that generate a sequence of numbers that are almost completely random. Casino games use this to ensure that there is no outside influence whatsoever in their online games.
Kinds of Roulette
American, European and French
Officially, there used to be only three kinds of roulette: American, European and French. The only difference was the number of pockets. In American, there are 38 divisions: numbers range from 1 to 36, with 0 and 00. The numbers 1 to 36 alternate in colors red and black, while the 0 and 00 are marked green. On the other hand, European Roulette has 37 divisions, with 1 to 36 on the wheel but only one 0. Lastly, the French has the same number of divisions as the European version, but it differs slightly in terms of the layout and the types of bets.
Progressive Jackpot Roulette
This is online roulette with a progressive jackpot. This means that as long as no one wins the jackpot yet, the value grows in value. This is a good online roulette to play if players wish to win exceptionally big payouts. If the same number hits five times in a row, the player wins the progressive jackpot.
This allows multiple punters to play roulette together. They can observe each other’s betting patterns and interact with one another while playing.
What makes Roulette fun (with all its different kinds) is the betting! Its betting system is one of the most integral parts of Roulette. In terms of Roulette in general, betting is broken down into inside and outside bets. Players can bet as much as they want since there’s no limit to betting.
- Straight Bets
Betting on one specific number. On the table, players will place a chip on the number that they want to bet the ball will land on. If the number wins, the payoff is 35 to 1.
- Split Bets
Betting on one of the two numbers that lie next to each other on the table. Players will place a chip on the line that separates the two numbers on the table.
- Street Bet, Trio Bet, or Three Number Bet
The player wagers that any number in a particular row will hit the next spin. To bet, players must place a chip in the outside line of the row on which they want to bet on. The player wins if any number in the row comes up. The payoff is 11 to 1.
- Corner Bet, Square Bet, or Four-Number Bet
Betting that one of four numbers will hit on the next spin. The four numbers should be making a square formation on the table. The bet is made with the player placing the chip into the center of the four numbers. If one of the four numbers win, the bet pays 8 to 1.
- Five-Number Bet
Betting that either the 0, 00, 1, 2, or 3 will come up on the next roll. Players place the chip on the outside line that divides the 0 and 1. if won, the player wins 6 to 1.
- Six Line Bet
Betting that one of six numbers in two adjacent rows will come up. The bet is done by the player placing a chip between two rows on the outside line. If the ball lands on any number in the two rows, the player will be paid 6 to 1.
Betting that the ball will fall on a number that’s colored red. If won, the player is paid 1 to 1 (called even money). The player must place a chip on the box marked ‘red’ to make the bet.
Betting that the ball will fall on a number that’s colored black. The same betting mechanics as red applies.
Wagering that the ball will land on an even number. The bet does not include 0 or 00. The payoff is also 1 to 1. The player must place a chip on the ‘Even’ box to place the bet.
Wagering that the ball will land on an odd number. The same betting mechanics as even bet applies.
- Low Bet
Betting that the next number will land between 1 and 18. Again, the payout is 1 to 1. To bet, the player must place a chip on the ‘low’ box.
- High Bet
Betting that the next number will be between 19 and 36. The payout is 1 to 1. The same betting mechanics as Low applies.
- Dozen Bet
This divides the table into the following numbers: 1-12, 13-24, and 25-36. To play, the player must place a chip on the three boxes marked “1st 12”, “2nd 12”, or “3rd 12”. This pays 2 to 1.
- Column Bet
Betting that the ball will fall on a number in a specific column. The payoff is 2 to 1. The player must place a chip at the end of the layout below the desired column where the box is marked “2 to 1”.
